The meeting will explore mobile multilingualism among African immigrants and sojourners in Europe, exploring the role of language in community formation among immigrants and in communication between immigrants and resident populations, bringing together perspectives from sociolinguistics and cultural anthropology. It is organised as a panel in the frame of the annual meeting of VAD (Vereinigung für Afrikawissenschaften in Deutschland/German Association for African Studies), taking place in Freiburg from 7 to 10 June 2022. The organisers envisage a face-to-face event with some virtual elements.
